We all know by now that everything in your work or business impacted by your ability or inability to communicate well.
What is this big word called ‘communication'?
Is communication solely confined to the ability to speak well?
A lot of people equate communication to public speaking - I beg to differ.
I think that communication is that 99.9% of the conversations that we have in our daily life.
In my view, communication consists of five key components: listening, speaking, writing, reading and nonverbal.
Never underestimate the power of a real conversation. Don't assume that people will just get you - they don't.
Is there ever a day where we don't have to deal with people? To progress in your career or do well in business, you must be able to get along with people.
There are some very highly prized abilities such as teamwork, collaboration, cooperation and coordination.
Guess what is the fundamental of all these?
Just the act of listening can impact relationships positively.
Listening also allows you to access other points of views, opinions and perspectives.
Emotional intelligence is the number 1 skill for success in your career or business - today or tomorrow.
Emotional intelligence or EI is the ability to understand and manage your own emotions, and those of the people around you.
People with a high degree of emotional intelligence know what they're feeling, what their emotions mean, and how these emotions can affect other people.
If I can give you the biggest tip ever to create sustained success, it’s gaining self-awareness!
Know who you really are - what makes you, you, then you can learn to leverage your strengths and turn your weaknesses into wins.
I know that leadership is a very big word - we hear it a lot, all the time.
We all want to become team leads with a big team working for us.
So, I want you all to take a pause today and realize that leadership truly starts with you. leadership is ultimately self-management.
If you want to become a leader, guess who you have to lead first.
Even if you don’t have a team working for you yet, start by leading yourself.
Your boss plays a key role in advancement opportunities, so the more he/she knows YOU, your work, and your work ethic, the more likely you are to be rewarded.
A healthy, respectful relationship with your manager can improve your morale and productivity, and ultimately, it can boost your career.
If you want a relationship that goes beyond “we get along fine,” it’s important to build a strong alliance with your boss.
Keep in mind, your goal shouldn’t be to become best friends with your boss. Instead, focus on establishing good communication skills and building trust—and the rewards will follow.
Things are not always about YOU - I've spent many years in the corporate world where I've seen lots of people getting stuck because they make things all about them.
The real challenge within businesses often lies within the office: internal stakeholders.
Being cordial to others is a virtue - seems simple but too often forgotten. If nobody likes you as a person, it will become a big obstacle!
What value do you bring? How are you helping?
Unfortunately, I've seen many people getting stuck in their heads about the whole Me, Me, Me - you must do this for ME!
In today's world, we are all very focused on doing, doing, doing...
There’s always something to do, there's always something we need to act on.
The thing is, if you don't think about why you're doing something and what you are trying to achieve, what is the likelihood that you will achieve what you've set out to achieve?
Everyone is looking for growth, everyone is trying to chase this magical growth out there without getting clear on what their strategy is.
And, that's where clear and critical thinking comes in.
Making decisions is the hallmark of a leader. It shows that you are confident enough to take the next step forward and taking the next right step forward is all that matters.
Too many leaders avoid making tough calls. As a leader gets more senior, the need to make hard calls only intensifies.
In fact, hard decisions often get more complicated when they’re deferred.
Let that really sink in.
Why some people are afraid of making decisions?
It's all down to the fear of making a wrong decision - people don't like to be wrong.
Let me ask you this - How often does issues, problem or circumstances arise?
If your personal and professional lives are like most of us, I'm sure it happens more than you like.
And that's where creativity comes in. Creativity is a very useful soft skill that will help in problem solving.
It’s very easy to tell someone that they need to bring you solutions, but how are they going to come up with solutions?
Will the magical genie called Google will simply answer all your questions?
But is it tailored to your actual circumstance and your actual issue?
The truth is nothing ever stays the same. The world is changing at a rapid pace - whether you want to recognise it or not.
Change is not easy; it's hard and knowing what changes to make and when to make them is even harder.
AQ, or adaptability quotient, is something that is becoming increasingly prevalent as more and more leaders are talking about the constant change their organizations and their industries are undergoing.
As we are move into a digital world, if you don’t how to adapt and be flexible you will not be able to survive this era.
Feel like your brain is overwhelmed with too many thoughts? Wondering how to organize your thoughts? You’re not alone.
Really organized people – mentally or physically, are not born organized, they have learned how to cultivate healthy habits, which then help them to stay organized.
So even if you think you are a very disorganized person, you can learn to be organized.
From planning things, jotting things down, to ditching the unnecessary and organizing things that matter, you will become an organized person as long as you’re willing to learn and practice.
“Either you run the day, or the day runs you.”
— Jim Rohn
Time is the most valuable thing you have, so managing it effectively is how some people get so much done in a day.
For those of you who are always wondering how do I get so much done and operate at 200% efficiency...
Here's the open secret: I am crystal clear on what I set out to achieve and I create time to make it happen.
Don’t find time – create time!
